This year’s bird houses and original art are now on display at Ace Garden Center on Grand Avenue. The public will also have the opportunity to preview many of the bird houses and bird art online beginning May 15 at www.piedmontpaints.org.
Last year’s Bird House Gala was attended by nearly 200 members of the community. “Since our children’s art programs may be on the chopping block next fall, it will be more critical than ever for parents, art-lovers, everyone to make donations to keep art alive in our schools. Donations of any amount can make a difference,” says Karen Stanton, Bird House Gala organizer and creator who is an art teacher at Havens and Beach Schools, and hopes to see the visual art programs continue to flourish even in difficult economic times. “When the going gets tough, the arts are more important than ever. Even during the bleakest times in history, people turned to art for its therapeutic value and for a reflection of the beauty in life that surrounds us. We need to provide that for all kids in American schools.”
The 8th annual PAINTS Birdhouse Gala and Auction will take place Friday, May 28, 2010 from 5:00-7:30pm in a lush Piedmont home garden. This sell-out event is PAINTS’ signature fundraiser, which showcases the work of over thirty Bay Area artists. Tickets to the Gala are $70 in advance and $75 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at www.piedmontpaints.org.
